What's In A Name

You know of my dislike of Dogs from when I posted the other week. Imagine my rage reading this on the Sun newspaper site.

A Cross Pit Bull called "ASBO" ran amok in Mitcham dragging a child fifty yards across a green before members of the public bravely intervened. One got badly bitten and had to jump in the back of a passing lorry to get away. ASBO was not going to give up and chased after the lorry. Luckily no really serious injuries.

It then continued to run wild before getting cornered and shot. ** Not for Liberal dog lovers **(Click this video link). This could have had more serious implications. Not only could the child have been killed, but there is a rumoured previous report to police about ASBO biting someone. How would the police have come out of that one. Lawsuits all round I guess.

ASBO's owner has been rightly arrested and the Social Housing Landlords are not best pleased. No doubt endless excuses will be offered up as to how ASBO escaped from her garden. I wonder if she'll blame the landlords for not maintaining her fence?

These people are just downright anti-social through their existence. They want you to be scared of them and having an illegal dog called ASBO just reinforces that.

Why can't all these "ASBO'S" , "TYSON'S" and "KILLER'S" be shot on sight?

Lot's of form filling on this one - I hope they didn't forget the property damage form for "ASBO".

It's not the dog's fault. Blame the owner. I hope she get's what's coming.

Damo

These breeds are dogs with the devil in them. They are also illegal to own and sell. They should not exist in this country - Full Stop

What's coming to her? Not alot because it won't be her fault will it!

Dog's are morally neutral.. they don't know the difference between right or wrong. It is the owners of these dogs that are (or should be) responsible. Why do you think it's not her fault or are you suggesting that she'll get away with it ...a paltry fine or something?

I'm saying she won't take any blame as she can't see how it's her fault - despite having an illegal dog and calling it "ASBO".

A paltry fine at best and hopefully banned from keeping dogs too.

Unfortunately speaking as an officer who has been chased by one of these I'm rather biased - All I can say is, IT knew what it wanted to do to me if caught me.

I do know that some breed of dogs are more vicious than others. Ultimately it is the owners that are responible. http://www.galwayindependent.com/local-news/local-news/file-to-be-sent-to-dpp-following-drugs-bust/

Indeed it does come down to the owner - Galway is in EIRE where it is not illegal to own a Pit Bull type dog.

Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 allowed for existing dogs to be chipped on lead etc so not to persecute responsible owners - as dogs could not be traded the "breed" would die out in UK. It hasn't happened. So there is no such thing as a responsible owner of a Pit Bull type as the law states they are illegal. I don't recall seeing a class for these at crufts!!

Alot of these dogs come into UK from Ireland - passed off as an "Irish Staffs".

My friend use to own one of these dogs. He took great care of it. It was the most friendliest dog I ever meet. Then my friend fell foul of the local Chavs and they poisoned it. Poor dog.

In a case like this, it is right and proper that the dog is put down. Immediately followed by its owner!
