Testing Times

Actually alot has .. you haven't
Condolences to family and colleagues of Constable Stephen Carroll murdered as he was doing his job helping people. We're not talking about the old troubles here. There has been a massive improvement in the situation the last few years.

My first thoughts are that these splinter groups should just be wiped out. Dirty deeds need dirty solutions. They are cowards happy to hide behind the law, BUT that is what they want, to appear oppressed, and a return to conflict.

If peace is what the people want then the Republican politicians should give them up. After all this murder was carried out by their old comrades. Testing times ahead, but if the war is really over they should show their leadership now.

To ex-colleagues and friends in the Police Service Northern Ireland keep your heads down and be safe.

'Dirty deeds need dirty solutions'

So true, what both the British and Irish government should do is bring back internment. Just lock the scum up.

Lock ups don't work, been tried before. I could speak "their language" but this time both communities who are power sharing must solve it themselves.

Worked out of Bishop's Court n the late 80's. The number of "secret" middle of the night helicopter flights that went on with hard men (sas) on board. The stories that the crews returned with would not be believed in this day and age. Did the job though for a number of years.

A return to those days allowed? I very much doubt it. Just incase you were wondering this was in my previous life, not my current one.

My condolences to the family of another fallen officer.

lets just hope this isnt a return to the bad old days, and let’s hope that those responsible for both this shooting and the Massereene barracks attack is brought to book.
Interesting that there is talk in the public domain of SRR operating in NI.
Condolences to the family and colleagues.

Yes, people need to get together and shop these terrorists to the police. That's the only way.

As for internment, I suppose it never worked in the North and we had some success with it down in the South.

My only fear now, is that they'll target a unionist politician. If that happens the whole peace process will come collapsing down and we're back to square one.

While I live in the 'deep' South, I've never experienced any hassle because of these Troubles. I along with 99.99% of people on the island of Ireland are sick to the stomach because of these murders and don't want The North to return to its' past.

All we can do is hope and pray that these scumbags are caught and sent to prison.

May the victims rest in peace.
